Who I am

Ismael Web Design is the trading name of Ismael, a freelance web designer and developer based in Tralee, County Kerry. I am the data controller for any personal data you share here. You can reach me at info@ismaelwebdesign.ie.

What I collect and why

When you send an enquiry, I receive your name, email address, the details of your project and, if you choose to share them, your budget and your current website. I use this only to reply to you and to prepare a proposal you asked for. The legal basis is taking steps at your request before entering into a contract. To keep spam out, the server also remembers the internet address a message came from for ten minutes, in memory only, and then forgets it. If you accept analytics in the cookie banner, I also count your visit (see Cookies and tracking below); the legal basis for that is your consent, which you can withdraw at any time.

Who else handles your data

A few companies help me run this website and my email, and they only handle your data on my behalf. The site is hosted by Vercel, which keeps technical logs of visits (such as your IP address) to run the site and keep it secure, and which provides the visitor statistics if you accept them. Messages sent through the contact form are delivered to my inbox by EmailJS, and my business email is hosted by my email provider. Some of these companies are based outside the EU, so your data only leaves it with the safeguards the GDPR requires. I never sell your data or use it for advertising.

How long I keep it

If we don’t end up working together, I delete your enquiry within 12 months. If we do, I keep project records for as long as Irish tax law requires.

Cookies and tracking

This site doesn’t use advertising cookies. If you choose Accept in the cookie banner, I use Vercel Web Analytics to see how many people visit and which pages help them. It doesn’t set cookies: Vercel tells visits apart with a code worked out from the request your browser sends, and discards it after 24 hours. I only ever see totals, such as the pages viewed, the website that sent you, your country and town, and the kind of device and browser you use, never who you are. If you choose Reject, it doesn’t run at all.

Your choice is saved in a small cookie called “consent” for six months, and then I ask again. You can change it at any time with Cookie settings at the bottom of every page. Your light or dark theme choice is saved in your own browser’s local storage and never sent to me.

Your rights

You can ask to see, correct or delete the personal data I hold about you at any time by emailing me. If you’re unhappy with how I handle your data, you can complain to the Data Protection Commission.
